Taber Abrasion test

This method is suitable for testing the abrasion resistance of surfaces and coatings.

Two rollers covered with emery paper chafe over the rotating test specimen surface and simulate different stresses by varying the grain size and contact pressure.

The data obtained from this test is generally only transferable if the test conditions correspond to the real situation. Otherwise, it is intended to facilitate comparative material assessments.
