Tear Propagation/Separation/Shear/ Take-off tests
The tear propagation test method is used for soft films and very flexible elastomers where a tensile test does not yield any product differentiation.
The previously notched specimens are pulled apart from one another and the force required to do so is recorded. This force is highly dependent on the angle at which they are pulled apart.
Trapeze-shaped specimen, notched (DIN 53515)
Results of the test methodValues for stress and strain such as:
- Tensile impact strength of an unnotched specimen, atU [KJ/m²]
- Tensile impact strength of a notched specimen, atN [KJ/m²]
