Ash content

This method is used to determine a possible change in weight when the material is heated.

The granular or crushed test specimens are weighed into a crucible and then reduced to ash in a muffle furnace at high temperature, for example 800°C. The residue from ignition (ash content) is weighed after the specimens have cooled to room temperature.
